AI Transparency Statement
Setara uses AI to help teams organise complex information. This statement explains where AI is used, what data it processes, what it cannot do well, and how human oversight is built into the workflow.
How Setara uses AI
Setara uses automated processing and AI to:
- Extract and map entities (people, organisations, accounts, assets) across ingested material.
- Reconstruct timelines from emails, logs, messages and documents.
- Infer relationships between entities based on co-occurrence, communication patterns and source attribution.
- Surface risk indicators that help an analyst focus attention.
The data AI processes
The AI processes the source material a Customer ingests into a matter (for example emails, audit logs, CSV exports, documents, screenshots processed with OCR and publicly available OSINT content) together with metadata generated by the platform. We do not use Customer data to train general purpose AI models.
Known limitations
AI outputs may be wrong. Known limitations include:
- OCR errors on poor quality scans or screenshots.
- Stale or inaccurate open-source information.
- False correlations where two unrelated entities share an identifier or appear in proximity.
- Incomplete inputs leading to incomplete relationship graphs and timelines.
Human oversight
Setara is designed for human-in-the-loop use. AI outputs must be reviewed and verified by a person before being relied on or disclosed.
Accuracy and your responsibilities
Customers are responsible for verifying outputs and for the way conclusions are communicated. Outputs must not be used as the sole basis for any decision or disclosure about a person. See our Acceptable Use Policy.
Alignment with Australian guidance
We design and operate Setara in alignment with the Australian Government Voluntary AI Safety Standard (2024). This includes attention to accountability, risk management, transparency, human oversight and contestability.
Automated decision-making (Privacy Act update)
From 10 December 2026, our Privacy Policy will describe automated decision-making in line with new Privacy Act requirements taking effect on that date. We will update this statement and the Privacy Policy ahead of that date as required.
